Learn Drawing and Painting
Frieda And The Moon owner Paul was until recently head of one of the largest university art schools in the UK. He is currently external examiner for the MA Illustration Programme at the University of Gloucestershire. Now a practicing artist, his work is to be found in galleries across Cornwall. Artistic skills are one thing, but as a teaching professional with many years experience in understanding how people learn, you can be confident of receiving an enjoyable and stimulating experience tailored exactly to your aspiration and ability level.
Our one week courses are carefully designed to be equally accessible and useful to all, from complete beginner to experienced artist. Groups are small — limited to a maximum of four — in order to ensure that students receive tailored individual tuition and support.
The curriculum is flexible and is finally determined when the participants for the week are in place, but the essential elements — the application of timeless techniques informing lively practice — remain constant. A typical programme would involve engaging and entertaining talks with illustrated lectures and discussion in the mornings, and practical instruction in the afternoons. Students learn to apply the principles of the classical atelier technique to still life, landscape, and the life model.
As a visiting art student we will welcome you (and partner) to a welcome event with drinks and canapes where we can discuss an individual programme for you. A day of landscape drawing takes us to one of the stunningly beautiful locations of East Cornwall, sumptuous picnic included.
Students can stay in our gorgeous Cornish Tin Tabernacle or Observatory (a Romantic Escape for two..) only 50 yards from the studio — visit Classic Cottages to book.
