Art Courses

Your Drawing and Painting Holiday

Every day of your art holiday (you can book as many as you like, from one day upwards)  is designed with your needs and aspirations first. At the welcome event (or by phone in advance if you prefer) we will discuss what flavour of experience you would like — any media, any level, with beginners a speciality. You may want to paint for fun with an encouraging voice over your shoulder, or immerse in full-on classical atelier theory. You may just want to learn to draw well — absolutely anyone can do this surprisingly quickly. However you would like to develop your artistic endeavours, we can tailor a programme to fit.

A Personalised Programme...

Frieda And The Moon owner Paul was until recently head of one of the largest university art schools in the UK. He is currently external examiner for the MA Illustration Programme at the University of Gloucestershire. Now a practicing artist, his work is to be found in galleries across Cornwall. Artistic skills are one thing, but as a teaching professional with many years experience in understanding how people learn, you can be confident of receiving an enjoyable and stimulating experience tailored exactly to your aspiration and ability level.

It's fun...

We will welcome you (partners included) to a welcome event with drinks and canapes where we can discuss an individual programme for you. There is also a dinner on the last night with a chance to show your work. A day of landscape drawing takes us to one of the stunningly beautiful locations of East Cornwall, sumptuous picnic included.

Costs and Practicalities

Accommodation is in one of our gorgeous luxury vintage caravans, each of which sleeps two. Choose from the Cornish Tin Tabernacle or the Observatory, only yards from the studio in a secluded paddock — see below to book.

Tuition is £125.00 per person per day (including events described above and a light lunch on each day, including picnic on the landscape drawing trip). If you would like a life class, we can supply a model at cost, usually about £35.00 per hour. You can book as many days as you like as part of your holiday.

Paper, drawing boards, drawing aids and easels etc are supplied. If you have preferred media, bring that along, and it would be a good idea to have a supply of pencils, charcoal, graphite pencils, and a good quality sketchbook/journal.
