The Observatory At Frieda And The Moon
Designed for the ultimate “wow” factor, The Observatory offers a unique Romantic Escape experience…
Hidden in a wooded paddock with far reaching views of rolling hills, this ultra-bespoke tiny house is, quite literally, like nothing else. The Observatory is clad in copper and zinc, with hammered lead detailing, and six stained glass portholes representing the phases of the moon. What do you call that? …someone suggested: “vintage meets steam punk”. The perfect escape for a romantic break, “just-two” wedding, elopement wedding or mini-moon.
This exquisite retreat has a craftsman built interior of oak inlaid with brass, gorgeous original styling, and is filled with lovely old things on the theme of astronomy and the cosmos. This is extravagant comfort, as befits a romantic escape bolthole for two: hot tub; luxury bathroom, gas hob, and a cute little wood-burner. On the oak bedhead, you will find an inlaid carving of a huge nautilus shell, representing the swirling galaxies…
“Such a wonderful find! Peaceful, enchanting, relaxing — everything we hoped for. Hours spent in the hot tub watching the day turn to night and listening to the change of bird song to owl hoots”. Emma & Patrick
Above the snuggly king size bed is the “sky window” — a huge skylight to view the breathtaking stars, planets and satellites in cosy seclusion. Many of our regulars return again and again to marvel at the amazing spectacle of the stars in our uniquely dark skies from the hot tub (there is almost zero light pollution in this corner of Cornwall) — this takes that experience, quite literally, into the stratosphere. Outside on the cobbled patio, you can enjoy the long view down the valley from beside the wood-fired chiminea, or deeply relax in the cedar-wood hot tub, luxuriating in the spa jets and bubbles.
